Apprentice, Nathan Brown recently undertook the Final Integrated Competence Assessment (FICA) as part of his ongoing SVQ qualification in Electrical Installation.
The FICA assessment is required by all SJIB registered apprentices nearing the end of their Modern Apprenticeship in Electrical Installation and may only be taken once they have completed the required competencies and site experience.
In order to pass, Nathan took part in several assessments across two days, each to be completed within a specific target time:
1. Assessment of Safe Working Practices
2. Composite Installation
3. Inspection & Testing
4. Safe Isolation of Supplies
5. Fault Diagnosis and Rectification
6. Underpinning Knowledge Assessment.
All work also had to comply with the current requirements of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and health and safety legislation.
We are pleased to report that Nathan passed and has now officially qualified! Well done Nathan!
